If you are new to the English language, this book is perfect for you. Most of the idioms are basic and used in everyday speech in the U.S., but because there are so many basic ones, it is hard to find the funny and unusual idioms (if that is what you are looking for). I am still giving the book five stars because I think they did a great job putting together a comprehensive Idiom Guide.Todd Hagopian President/CEO Hagopian Institute Author of the popular "Quote Junkie" book sereies and the brand new "Idiom Junkie" series
Table of contents IS NOT interactive. You must page through hundreds of pages to find anything.
If you are getting this to learn anything new, don't waste you're time. This book should be labeled very differently, I gave it the low score because its basically of no use to the majority of people that will buy it to use for writing. Everything in this book a small child probably already knows. The most basic of language is in this book. Its a good book if you don't know a lot of English, like someone who speaks Spanish and is trying to learn English. Remember, buyer beware.
I'm a Foreign Languages teacher and I really need to improve my English with Idioms and Phrasal verbs every day.this dictionary helps me a lot because it has not just words but sentences and their respective explanation for what it means plus an example so you can clarify any doubts you have.I like it.
I'm an E.S.L. This book is a valuable reference for my clients on idiom. tutor in Canada. I coach clients on cultural aspects. With it, they still need the english language practice as well. But this provides an independent reference that they can check language usage when I'm not around.
